Our Mission

Fearless Family Chiropractic’s mission is to transform the health of families for generations.  We believe that our bodies are absolute miracles and are more amazing than we could ever imagine. With that being said, our bodies are innately intelligent: always healing, cleansing, repairing and regenerating, given the appropriate ingredients and time. We have been told that we get sick because of bad germs, bad genes, bad luck or it’s simply a part of getting old. We have been taught that at the first sign of a symptom we need to stop it, suppress it, quiet it, or remove the organ or tissue that the symptom originates from. But what if those symptoms are the body doing exactly what it’s supposed to, given the road blocks it’s up against and the resources it has? And that these symptoms are the body getting back to homeostasis? At our practice, we aren’t afraid of symptoms or the body’s processes, we embrace and listen to these symptoms to help guide us to helping one heal. Our current health care model is fabulous at emergent care, but when it comes to long-term health and vitality, there’s plenty of room for improvement.   The stats show that we spend the most amount of money on healthcare per person in all of the developed nations, but yet we rank almost dead-last in health outcomes. At FFC, we are committed to not only helping families heal, but to change the lens of how they view health. We invite you to embrace the amazing body and natural healing to find health like you have never experienced before and become part of our Fearless Family.

Our Vision

Chiropractic may usually be thought of as merely a musculoskeletal therapy, improving spinal motion to relieve pain and stiffness and that it’s mainly for parents and grandparents. In our office we are evaluating and addressing the nervous system through the neurospinal system, which consists of the vertebra, discs, ligaments, joint capsules, muscles and nerves. You can’t just isolate any one of these because they are inherently all functioning together. A vertebra does not move itself, but is under the direct control of the muscles that attach to it. Ligaments are attaching vertebra to vertebra, essentially guiding the movement of vertebra dictated by the contraction of the muscles. The discs are in between each vertebrae acting as a shock absorber. But inside all of the muscles, ligaments, joint capsules and discs are tiny little sensors called proprioceptors. These tiny little sensors detect every bit of compression, shearing, twisting, tension, and bending, literally all movement that happens. Those sensors quite literally give the brain information, or a body map, of itself and what it is doing.

One of the main differences between our office and a lot of other chiropractic offices is that we use a neurologically focused approach to adjusting, and who we are adjusting. One of our main target demographic of people to help is children! Most of the world thinks chiropractic is limited to older people with pain. We believe that it’s actually kids that need it more than adults, as they are still growing and developing, because of the massive influence chiropractic has on the nervous system. Instead of trying to only mobilize the spine and joints from a musculoskeletal standpoint, we look at the neuromotor sensorimotor feedback and how the brain and nervous system recalibrates and reorganizes itself. All of the major systems of the body are inherently vital to health, the cardiovascular system, respiratory system, endocrine system, digestive system, immune/detox system, circulatory system, musculoskeletal system and reproductive system are all governed and controlled via the master controlling system, the nervous system. The nervous system is the foundation of where we focus our attention and care. We primarily utilize the INSiGHT scans to do this through thermal scans, surface EMG, and Heart Rate Variability(HRV), but also we are looking at posture, gait and coordination, movement patterns and palpation. Our goal is to help optimize and enhance the brain to body communication through the neurospinal system. The better the brain perceives and “listens” to the body, the more accurate, appropriate and efficient the brain will control the body.

Instead of only focusing on one specific technique, we utilize a myriad of techniques that are appropriate at a specific point in a person’s journey of care. For some people we might use instrument and light tonal techniques and others we might use a more traditional or manual adjusting. In some instances we will adjust someone laying down, others we may adjust seated or standing. Sometimes we even switch in the middle of their care plan depending on what the INSiGHT scans show us.

Another key component of how we operate is under the rules of neuroplasticity, or how the brain rewires itself. The basic concept of neuroplasticity is a specific stimulus, in a specific location, with repetition. Think of learning a new language or a new sport, it takes time and repetition to learn these new items. The nervous system is the same exact way. When it comes to adjusting a person’s nervous system, instead of trying to adjust all of the areas that are dysfunctional, we might only focus on one or two areas at a time, 2, 3 or 4 times in one week. Just like trying to learn the piano, multiple shorter lessons more frequently will have better outcomes than fewer, longer lessons.

Philosophically, we operate very differently than most offices in general. We take a terrain approach to health. Conventional medicine operates under germ theory, or contagion, which basically is under the premise that the body is inherently weak, and that “outside” things such as germs or viruses get inside us and make us sick or that we break down because of bad genes or getting old. With the terrain premise, the body is unimaginably strong and resilient, and that our internal environment and our mind determines if we are healthy or not, and that we are constantly regenerating, repairing, cleansing and eliminating. It’s these very things that we aim to support with our care focusing on the master nervous system.

Your Fearless Family Team

Dr. Jake

Dr. Jake has spent his career fascinated by the human body—how it works, how resilient it is, and most importantly, how it heals. After 12 years in private practice, his curiosity about the body’s journey from dysfunction back toward health continues to drive his passion for learning and patient care. Growing up on a farm and living an outdoors-focused life, he believes deeply in the body’s connection to its environment and its natural ability to adapt and thrive. Outside the office, Dr. Jake enjoys life on his family’s homestead near Bloomington with his wife, Kristen, and their three children.

Dr. Abby

Dr. Abby’s passion for human movement and performance began as a competitive gymnast and track athlete and ultimately led her to chiropractic care. Today, she takes a neurologically focused approach, helping patients understand the connection between the brain and body and build stronger foundations for health, resilience, and performance. As an IFBB Fitness Professional who has competed on stages including the Olympia and Arnold Classic, she brings a unique perspective to caring for everyone from growing families to competitive athletes. She believes true transformation begins with a well-regulated nervous system and a body given the right environment to heal, adapt, and thrive.

“We believe the body is designed to heal, adapt, and thrive—and we’re here to help families understand how.”
