INSiGHT
Scanning:

INSiGHT Scanning gives us a deeper look at how your nervous system is functioning and responding to stress. By measuring patterns that aren’t always visible from the outside, these non-invasive scans provide valuable insight that helps us better understand your unique needs and personalize your care.

about INSiGHT scans:

One of the core pillars of our office and clinical model is the use of the INSiGHT scans. The INSiGHT scans are utilized to accurately assess the health and function of the central and autonomic nervous system. The nervous system is basically a two-way highway consisting of incoming or sensory pathways that are telling the brain what’s going on in the internal environment and the external environment. This highway starts in all of the various organs and tissues of the body, travels along nerves to the spinal cord and then up to the brainstem and brain. That information is processed and then gets sent back to the body via the other highway, the motor system, telling those organs, glands and tissues what to do, when to do it, how to do it, etc.

rolling thermal scan

The INSiGHT scans utilize three different types of scans to measure the nervous system. The first scan we look at is the rolling thermal scan. The scan can be done on newborns to adults and takes about 1-2 minutes to perform, and is slowly rolled up the spinal cord reading temperature along the skin. This technology consists of two highly sensitive infrared thermometers that are making thousands of measurements of temperature of the skin along the spinal cord both left and right and also top and bottom. It specifically is measuring the regional effects of dysautonomia and subluxation. Thermal scans show us where stress is stuck in the organ systems along the spinal cord and is it more recent and acute or is it more chronic and longstanding.

surface EMG

The second scan we utilize is the surface EMG scan. This is specifically measuring the tone or tension, the balance, symmetry and distribution of the neuromotor system. This is very important because if the EMG scan detects patterns of stuck tension and imbalance, the brain is almost certainly stuck in sympathetic (fight or flight) tone and also struggling with an imbalance between its core functions of regulating emotions, behavior, learning, and memory. The scan is performed in the seated position and is only performed on kiddos at least 3 or 4 years old and up, and is placed on the surface of the skin along the neurospinal system.

heart rate variability(HRV)

The third scan that is performed is the heart rate variability(HRV) test. This scan shows us a broader more global view of someone's neurological health. Specifically it demonstrates if the autonomic nervous system is healthy, balanced and fully charged, or is wound up and stressed(sympathetic dominant), or exhausted and depleted(parasympathetic dominant). The scan is performed on newborns and up where the child is held by a parent or sits and places their hand in the sensor or wears an ear clip. All three of these scans are interpreted together to assess where subluxation and dysregulation are stuck and its effects on the entire system, and what is the appropriate frequency and duration, and technique of care.
